Land from the destruction caused by Robert Moses' Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, Marcy Green Park had been an eyesore for years. Spanning three blocks, the revitalized park offers a dog run, natural stone seating, table tennis, and a water feature.
Babi Yar Park serves both as a memorial to those killed at Babyn Yar in WWII and as a gathering space for community and play area for children.
Through the artful deployment of planted areas and the synthetic turf covering a massive stormwater retention system, this park serves to provide recreation value, repair historic inequity, and increase resiliency in the face of two of the larger threats of climate change in this community: heavy rainfall and devastating heat.
